Deleting a LiveVault agent computer (server)

Deleting a computer (server) removes it from Cloud Direct LiveVault Management Portal and destroys all backed-up data and configuration information for that computer.

Important:
When you delete a computer, you also delete all historic backed up information for that computer. Do not delete a computer if you want access to any historic backed up information. Instead, disable the computer by suspending backup, as described in knowledge article, KB0010761 Removing a LiveVault agent.

To avoid further billing and to eliminate server status emails from being sent, you must uninstall the agent software and remove your computers from Cloud Direct LiveVault Management Portal.

To prevent accidental deletion, you must uninstall the agent software from the computer before you can delete it.

Before proceeding with this task, it is assumed that the user is logged into the LiveVault WebUI.

Deleting a computer (server)

The procedure to delete a computer varies, depending on whether there are existing backup policies associated with the computer or not. Choose the appropriate procedure below.

A backup policy exists on the computer

To delete a computer, containing one or more backup policies, from the LiveVault WebUI, proceed as follows.

Note:
If the agent software is still installed on the computer, then follow the instructions in knowledge article, KB0010761 Removing a LiveVault agent, to uninstall the agent software before proceeding.

  1. From the LiveVault WebUI Home page, in the left hand navigation pane, select the name of the computer you want to delete.
  2. The Summary tab for the computer opens.

  1. Click, Schedule Computer Deletion.

The Delete Computer page opens.

  1. Select a date for policy deletion from the dropdown calendar.

Note:
The calendar will indicate a minimum, and a maximum, possible date for deletion. The minimum is usually set at one week, the maximum depends on the agreed data retention period. Until the scheduled deletion date is passed, the data will remain on the account, and is therefore chargeable.

  1. Click Save.

The policy, and the computer, will be deleted from the LiveVault Management Portal at the end of the day scheduled for policy deletion.

No backup policy exists on the computer

To delete a computer, with no existing backup policy, from the LiveVault WebUI, proceed as follows.

  1. Click Delete Computer.

A confirmation window appears.

  1. In the confirmation window, click Delete.

The computer has now been deleted from the LiveVault Management Portal.
