Zurich Financial Services has signed an IT outsourcing deal worth £200 million with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC).
Following the deal, CSC will take responsibility for Zurich's desktops services in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Spain.
This will cover the global service desk, local on-site support and software packaging and distribution to over 51,000 users.
CSC chairman, president and chief executive officer Michael W Laphen, said: "[The contract] will provide Zurich's businesses with access to innovative technology and services and bring new levels of efficiency in support of Zurich's global IT strategy."
Earlier this week, Computer Weekly reported that utility company Scottish Water signed IT outsourcing contracts worth a total of £120 million with BT, Fujitsu and Tata Consultancy Services.
The move aims to meet efficiency and service targets, offer employees more facilities and cut operating costs by over £8 million, according to the technology news provider.
