Meet The Team: Matt Watt
By Stuart Janicki • 09 Feb 2012
Matt Watt joined the Account Management team at the end of July 2011. Lives in the sticks of Wiltshire with his wife, Catherine, having bought their first house just 6 months ago. Prior to living in the South West Matt lived in the wilds of Norfolk, the Midlands, Kent and London, but that was a long time ago...
How did you end up in the job?
I moved to the Bath area with 6 years prior experience in recruitment and wanted to face a new challenge. More recently I have worked for an IT sales company who provided services to Backup Direct so I knew about the company. I decided I wanted to find out more and contacted Brett directly. It was 2 years later that I got offered a job!
What do you like about the company?
The ethos of putting responsibility in your hands. This encourages everyone to make decisions and develop themselves which in turn creates a more motivated an efficient workforce. It’s an great environment where you can put ideas forward and manage projects that make you feel part of a team.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The variety and helping people. It’s great to be able to resolve people’s issues and to develop relationships to the point where you can chat to your customers about anything but they’ll know that if required you’ll be at the end of the phone and can resolve issues quickly.
What are your hobbies?
A bit of an odd mix really. I’m a frustrated artist, mainly pencils and pastels. Frustrated because of my attention to detail means I take so long and by my nature I’m impatient! Also have dabbled with a bit of archery and l enjoy squash and cycling to keep me fit.
“You need to cook more” (My wife, pretty much every week)
