See how others are adopting Azure in this downloadable white paper
In this white paper, David Chappell explains how modern enterprises are adopting Azure. He discusses dilemmas faced by cloud first-timers—like common barriers to adoption and which scenarios and workloads are best suited for the cloud.
Azure and Office 365 generally available from new UK data centres
The Microsoft Cloud in the United Kingdom opened on September 7, 2016, with two new Azure regions now generally available. Office 365 is also generally available, and Dynamics CRM Online will join the line-up in the first half of 2017. This cloud brings world-class reliability and performance combined with data residency to government departments, regulated industries, and other businesses. It empowers the digital transformation of businesses and public sector organisations, helping them save money, increase productivity, and meet compliance and policy requirements. Azure Active Directory Premium P2 generally available
Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) Premium P2, the Identity and Access Management cloud service with advanced protection for all your users and administrators, is now generally available. This new offering includes all the capabilities of Azure AD Premium P1 as well as the new Identity Protection and Privileged Identity Management. Azure Active Directory Identity Protection leverages billions of signals to provide risk-based conditional access to applications and critical company data. Microsoft also helps you manage and protect privileged accounts with Azure Active Directory Privileged Identity Management so you can restrict and monitor administrators’ access to resources and provide just-in-time access when needed.
Microsoft Operations Management Suite Docker container monitoring in public preview
Microsoft Operations Management Suite is extending its monitoring capabilities to Docker containers. Containers are designed to be lightweight and easily provisioned. However, without a centralised approach to monitoring, it may be difficult to manage and respond to critical issues at speed. Using Operations Management Suite Docker container monitoring, you can get container inventory, performance data, and logs from one place. Operations Management Suite also provides a simplified view of containers’ usage and diagnoses issues across cloud and on-premises environments. Similar to other Operations Management Suite solutions, logs, inventory, and performance data are searchable and can be used to create custom reports and alerts. To try it, please visit the Get started with Operations Management Suite webpage.
Many new capabilities now available in Azure Batch
Azure Batch is a fully managed cloud service that lets you efficiently run large-scale parallel and high-performance computing (HPC) applications in the cloud. Microsoft has now added support for Linux compute nodes, MPI workloads, application packages, task dependencies, and virtual networks on pools configured with cloud services (PaaS); configurable automatic scaling interval; Visual Studio templates for Batch for quick implementation of job managers and task processors; the ability to automatically copy logs and task outputs to storage, so they are available after compute nodes are turned off; and client libraries for Python, Java, and Node.js; and Azure CLI support (Xplat-CLI). They’ve also improved the Azure portal experience for Batch.
Exploring the Azure Service Profiler
Azure Friday’s Seth Juarez learns about the power of Azure Service Profiler—specifically how to get it working for the Web Apps feature in Azure App Service. It can help you debug performance problems for many different Azure workloads. Watch it now.

Managing a hybrid data platform with Microsoft Operations Management Suite
When Microsoft IT wanted to manage and monitor DataMall, our internal data repository comprising a range of data sources and hosted in a hybrid environment, we chose Operations Management Suite. With the monitoring and remediation capabilities of Operations Management Suite, we gained more visibility into both the on-premises and Azure components of DataMall. Read the article to learn more.

The security hero’s tool belt: Identity-driven security
The transition to mobility and the cloud has further complicated the threat landscape, creating new challenges for our security heroes. Sophisticated attack vectors require a new approach to security. How can you arm yourself with a security strategy that uncovers blind spots, identifies anomalies, and stops risky behaviour? In this on-demand webinar, learn how you can protect your organisation with innovative and intelligent security tools in a cloud-first, mobile-first world.
Holistic security centred on identity
The Enterprise Mobility + Security solution restricts data access to your workforce and helps stop intrusions. It keeps apps and data secure with machine learning that recognises user behaviour and actively identifies breaches. The best counter to modern threats is multiple layers of security—covering identity, the device, the app, and the content itself. In this on-demand webinar, learn how to protect your organisation while maintaining the critical balance between security and productive employees.
