Virgin Media continues EE network outsourcing
By Cloud Direct • 22 Oct 2013
EE has announced it will continue to provide the services that power Virgin Mobile's network offerings across the UK.
Virgin Mobile is currently the country's leading operator and has more than three million customers, but does not own or run the infrastructure its client-base uses - instead choosing to outsource this to EE.
EE has seen considerable success in its 4G operations in recent months but still keeps a prominent business to business market presence and has maintained its relationship with Virgin Mobile since 1999.
Virgin executives said they chose EE because of its industry reputation and flexible technology.
Gerry McQuade, chief marketing officer of non-consumer operations for EE, said: "We are delighted that following a competitive industry tender, Virgin Media has again chosen to partner with EE and build on our longstanding and successful relationship."
Customers of both EE and Virgin will not notice any changes to their service as this outsourcing contract only affects back-office functions.
