General SIP trunk settings and PBX compatibility
This article provides information about PBX compatibility with SIP trunking solutions.
The information contained in this article is extracted from the Help Portal on the VoiceHost website. Further information concerning SIP trunks, hosted PBXs, routers, VoIP handsets and softphones may be found at, https://www.voicehost.co.uk/help?page=1.
If a PBX is SIP-compatible, then it will generally be immediately compatible with SIP trunking solutions provided by Cloud Direct. The most important features for testing the compatibility of a PBX are these:
- Ability to set registration time at 120 seconds (halves to 60s) where registration is required for inbound calls.
- Ability to enter a username and password for authentication on outgoing calls.
If your PBX is not SIP compatible (i.e. a legacy PBX), then it may still be compatible with a SIP to PSTN Gateway connected to the PBX, such as those made by Vega or Sangoma. Please call Cloud Direct for confirmation if you plan to connect one to the service.
