Cloud Direct expands private cloud offering with the acquisition of Datel Business Systems

The acquisition allows Cloud Direct to offer customers in regulated industries highly secure and resilient VMWare based hosted, private cloud servers via a high-speed WAN connection
Bath, UK – 10th June, 2015:
Cloud Direct, the UK provider of packaged cloud services, today announced its acquisition of Datel Business Systems Ltd, an IT hosting and infrastructure solutions provider. The purchase widens Cloud Direct’s customer service offering to include Datel’s highly resilient VMWare based hosted, private cloud offering and high-speed private wide area network (PWAN). This will give customers faster, more secure connectivity between their sites and the hosting platform.
The new private hosting offering is of particular relevance to Cloud Direct’s customers in regulated industries - such as finance, recruitment, legal and healthcare - and any other high-performance business that wants a higher level of security and resilience with the private cloud.
Cloud Direct’s CEO Brett Raynes said: “Datel’s world-class hosting facility and highly resilient private WAN means we can offer additional compliant cloud hosting services to our extensive customer base within regulated industries. We’ve been ISO 27001 accredited for some years now so our customers have always had a world-class level of security around their IT, data and system with us. However, customers who were reluctant before to move their business 100% to the cloud, can now choose a hosted private cloud - and expect the same levels of excellence.
“Datel also brings their many years of experience and skills for VMware virtualisation for desktop and server technologies; networking; and cloud migration.”
David Hopper, Datel’s managing director, said: “We’ve partnered with Cloud Direct since 2005, selling their cloud services (mainly HP LiveVault backup and VoIP telephony) to small and medium businesses of between 100 and 150 users. The quality of people at Cloud Direct has always impressed us, and now we can offer our customers the full spectrum of cloud services – so it’s great news for us and for our customers.”
The acquisition forms part of Cloud Direct’s high-growth plan. Since Brett started the company 11 years ago, Cloud Direct has helped 4,000 businesses move to the cloud. In 2014, the company received a total of £2.74 million investment from reputed technology investors including Nigel Wray, Rob Giles and Jamie Brooke, as well as Santander Bank. Acquiring Datel is a natural step that will help continue to strengthen Cloud Direct’s business.
