Not just a prickly face – 10 more reasons why hedgehogs are wonderful

It’s no secret we love hedgehogs. Our logo, Eric the hedgehog, was derived from the hedgehog concept. Eric represents that we are good at delivering one big thing, digital transformation through cloud technology. Equivalent to rolling up into a ball, if there are any hedgehogs reading this.

This week we’re supporting hedgehog awareness week, by sharing 10 more reasons why we think hedgehogs are wonderful creatures!

  1. When they aren’t busy sleeping 18 hours a day, hedgehogs can run over six feet per second!
  2. They are often referred to as being a gardener’s best friend, as insectivores, the hedgies will eat all the bugs in your garden.
  3. They can pull off a flat cap better than the Peaky Blinders.
  4. Hedgehogs are resilient little creatures who are not affected by adder venom.
  5. The 5,000 – 7,000 spikes on a hedgehog’s back can be raised or lowered to respond to threatening situations.
  6. Each spike lasts around a year, before being replaced!
  7. Though they have little legs, when foraging a hedgehog can walk up to 2 miles an evening.
  8. Baby hedgehogs are called hoglets!
  9. The collective noun for a group of hedgehogs is an array or a prickle.  A hedgehog having a bath might just be the cutest thing known to man!?
