Removing Connected Backup agent software

This article describes the procedure to remove the Connected Backup agent software from a Windows PC, or from an Apple Mac computer.

To successfully remove the Connected Backup agent from your computer, it is important to follow the relevant instructions below. If you attempt to remove the software simply by deleting it (Recycle Bin/Garbage), then the software will not be completely uninstalled.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding with this process, first confirm that your Connected Backup software application is closed.

Computer administrator permission may be required. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

 

Removing agent software from a Windows PC

The procedure to remove the Connected Backup agent software from a Windows PC varies slightly depending on your version of Windows. To remove the Connected Backup agent software from a Windows computer, proceed as follows.

  1. Go to the Windows Start menu. (For Windows 8, right-click the window icon at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen to access Control Panel via a dropdown menu).
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. From the Control Panel, under, Programs,
    1. For Windows XP, click Add or Remove Programs, or,
    2. For Windows Vista/7/8, click Uninstall Programs.

A list of programs appears.

  1. From the list of programs, locate the Connected Backup Agent program.
  2. Select the Connected Backup Agent program and then do one of the following:
    1. For Windows XP, click the Remove, or Change/Remove, tab to the right of the program name, or,
    2. For Windows Vista/7/8, click Uninstall.

See example below for Windows 8.

  1. Select Yes when asked to remove all registration and configuration information from the computer.

The Connected Backup agent software has now been removed from your computer, and your computer will no longer be backed up by Connected Backup.

 

Removing agent software from a Mac computer

To remove the Connected Backup agent software from an Apple Mac OS X computer,

  1. Click, Applications.
  2. From the list of applications, locate the Connected Backup folder.
  3. Within the Connected Backup folder, double-click, Uninstall Connected Backup.

  1. When prompted, enter the username and password you use to login to your Mac, then click OK.
  2. Click the Uninstall button.

The Connected Backup agent software uninstalls.

  1. When the un-installation is finished, click Quit.

The Connected Backup agent software has now been removed from your computer, and your computer will no longer be backed up by Connected Backup.

If you have completed the uninstall procedure because you no longer require the backup service then contact the Cloud Direct Service Delivery team to ensure that your account is updated and you are no longer billed for the service.
